What is Functional Medicine?
Functional medicine is “root cause” medicine. It considers the patient as a whole, focusing on how different parts of the body interact. This method supports the body’s balance through diet and lifestyle shifts instead of treating individual symptoms. Treatment plans are tailored to emphasize proactive, personalized care that empowers patients and families to play an active role in managing their health.
At Living Water Pediatrics, we have two “paths” to wellness: general pediatrics and functional medicine. If you are looking for in-depth testing, gut healing, and “root cause” medicine, that will fall under functional medicine. It is a different pricing structure than general pediatrics and includes working with both the physician and our Integrative Nutritionist, Aura Carlson.
